Frederick "Rick" Lee Harmon of Lake Jackson, TX entered this world and left this world on March 27th, 70 years later. Rick was born March 27, 1949 in Mena, Arkansas to Yvonne & James Harmon. He passed away March 27, 2019 after a courageous battle with COPD. His father being an employee of Dow afforded Rick the opportunity to live in many places. One memorable place was Paris, France. As a teen, Rick attended a boy's military high school in West Texas. After high school he enrolled in an Aviation Technical Institute where he obtained a certificate degree in Aircraft Mechanics. He also achieved his pilot's license. In the 1980's he was employed with Dow Chemical Texas Division and became their aircraft mechanic working out of Houston Intercontinental. He attended many NBAA conventions during his career in New Orleans, Boca Raton and Las Vegas. In 1991, he transferred to Lake Jackson where he continued his Aircraft Mechanic position on all kinds of jet and turbine planes for Dow working out of Brazoria Country Airport (Dow hangar). He was also the 3rd pilot for Dow/Lake Jackson which made daily shuttles to Michigan. When Dow ceased their daily shuttles, he went to work for Brazoria County Mosquito control as mechanic for their Beech 18 piston and turbine planes. Rick knew airplanes inside and out! He often would do annual inspections for his hanger buddies. He retired from the county to begin having fun. Rick loved to cook and would try out all kinds of fancy recipes. He could grill the meanest steak and sauted mushrooms around. He loved to snow ski and swooped down many a slope in New Mexico and Colorado. He had a passion for black powder muzzle shooting, fishing and his Harley. He and 3 of his buddies had rides through New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado and the Big Bend area of Texas. Rick is preceded in death by his parents Yvonne Norris and James Harmon. He is survived by one daughter Candice Harmon, two grandsons Mason and Bryce and one granddaughter Caleigh of Waco, ex-wife and friend Denise Woodyard, stepson Casey Woodard of La Grange, one sister Natalie Harless, nephew Brandon Douglas, wife Kendra and two sons, nieces Erin Douglas, Stacey Douglas, stepmother Karen Harmon and two cousins. Rick was so blessed to have many special and close friends. A special memorial of remembrance will be held at a date to be planned. It will take place at his best friend's hangar at Brazoria County Airport. Rick will get one last plane ride and his ashes will be spread at Surfside Jetties where he spent many hours fishing for "that flounder or red". This special man will be missed by many family members and friends. Fly like the eagles Harleyman! Services Pending
