Gene Arlin Agnew

September 30, 1936 — October 18, 2022

Gene Arlin Agnew, age 86, of Angleton, Texas went peacefully to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022, after saying his final "goodbye and I love you" to all of his family. Gene was born on September 30, 1936, in Cisco, Texas to Henry Arlin Agnew and Opal Mae Bledsoe Agnew. After graduating from Cisco high school in 1955, he enlisted and proudly served in the National Guard. While living in Cisco, he was an active member of the Cisco Volunteer Fire Department. Gene was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Texas. Gene married Paula Jeannette Douglas on December 22, 1958. They were blessed with 2 children: a daughter, Cheryl, and a son, Allen. He was employed by Lone Star Gas Co and in 1970, was transferred and moved the family to Knox City, Texas. In 1971, he was transferred to Munday, Texas, and then on to Wichita Falls, Texas later that year. After leaving Lone Star Gas Co at the end of 1972, the family moved to Angleton Texas. He was employed by Gulf States until he was forced to retire after a life-changing accident in 1993. After healing, he was able to spend his time doing the things that he loved: attending his grandkids' sports and activities. Left to treasure his memories are his daughter Cheryl Agnew Peterson and son Allen Agnew (Kelly). Gene is also survived by his grandchildren: Greg Peterson Jr., Brantley Peterson (Sonya), Collin Peterson, Clayton Peterson (Molly), Trevor Peterson, Allison Agnew Strother, Cory Jeffers (Amity), Lauren Hunt (Mike), and Jimmie Johnson. It doesn't stop there…great and great-great grandchildren: Bronx, Ander, Kayla (Seth), Tyler (Kasey), Elizabeth (Parker), Hayze, Tylan, Teake, Teah, Cuhlin, Creighton, Cahlder, Rhett, Briar, Vivian, Towns, Hadley, Taylor, Corbin, Caleigh, Kolby, Hayden and Makayla. And oh, how he loved each and every one of them. He loved having his picture made with them and spending time with all of us. Awaiting Gene's arrival in Heaven were his parents Arlin and Opal Agnew, his ex-wife, Paula Agnew Clark, and husband-in-law, Charlie Clark, aka Big Char (if you know, you know). A memorial service honoring Gene's life will be held on Saturday, November 26th at 2:00 PM at Palm's Funeral Home in Angleton. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
