George Robert "Bobby" Andrus was born on May 12, 1929 in Freeport, Texas. After illness, he died peacefully in Angleton on August 11, 2018 at the age of 89. He is survived by his wife Sybil Dingle Andrus, son Mark Andrus of Angleton, daughter Lynne C. Andrus and her friend Lynn Vance of Austin, brother-in-law Louis Warford of Angleton, sister Margaret Hudgins Morrison and her husband Jack of Fairview, Texas, niece Marla Morrison Fucich and husband Phillip of Allen, Texas, nephew Matthew Morrison and wife Janet of Plano, Texas, and many cherished great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his father Dorr Thomas Andrus, his mother Linnie Barth Andrus Hudgins, his step-father William Hudgins, his sister Carolyn Andrus Warford, in-laws Harold and Sammye Dingle and Mona Dingle, and close friends Jimmy Allen and Tom Tigner. George was a Sea and Boy Scout who achieved Eagle Scout. He graduated from Freeport High School in 1948. George married his high school sweetheart Sybil Dingle on June 9, 1951 and they were married for 67 years. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1952 with a BBA after serving in the Corps of Cadets. He was commissioned in the Air Force as a lieutenant stationed in Washington D.C. in signals intelligence with a pending recall and promotion to Captain during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He achieved his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in 1964. After careers with Shell Oil and Brown & Root, George moved back to Brazoria County to open his public accounting practice and - as an avocation - pecan cracking with an industrial cracking machine. George enjoyed meeting with his clients for both. He cracked pecans from both his own acreage near Dancigar, Texas and his wife's family ranch in Jones Creek. He enjoyed boating and fishing and traveling on cruises. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. ~ 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Palms Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 am on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church in Jones Creek and burial will be immediately afterwards at Gulf Prairie Cemetery. Light refreshments will be served by the women of the church. His favorite charities included Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church and Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets Association.
