Georgia Mae Cook

October 24, 1924 — February 3, 2013

Georgia Mae (Harlan) Cook passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 3, in Angleton, Texas. Known as MeMe to her grandchildren and Georgie to her many nieces and nephews, Georgia was a loving, gracious woman who was both fiercely independent and devoted to her family. She loved large family gatherings and traveling around the state to visit relatives. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Angleton. Born Oct. 8, 1924, to Earl and Helen (Higgins) Harlan in Reagan, Texas, Georgia married Lee Edward Cook on Dec. 26, 1946. They were lifelong residents of Angleton, where Lee worked with the Community Public Service Company for 48 years and Georgia worked for the City Cleaners for many years. Life seemed to be simple back then and it was a good time and place to raise their three boys. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her parents, Earl and Helen; her sisters, Mildred Brothers and Marie Rhodes; and brother Earl Harlan Jr. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Wade Earl Cook and wife Linda of Quintana, Texas; James Edward (Jim) Cook and wife Joy of Angleton, Texas; and Robert Lee (Bob) Cook and wife Linda of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Carrie Midani and husband Tarek; Cliff Cook; Ronnie Cook; Stacy Cook; Lynn Cook and Robby Cook; and by five great grandchildren, John Cook; Samantha Cook; Evan Cook; David Midani and Juliet Midani. She is also survived by her brother, Billy Ed Harlan and wife Alice of Clute, Texas, and several nieces and nephews Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in the Palms Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 at Palms Pallbearers will be Ronnie M. Cook, Ronnie W.
