September 19, 1927 — February 13, 2013

Georgia Weldon Wood Georgia Weldon Wood, 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at the Bluebonnet Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Karnes City, Texas. She was born on September 19, 1927, in Moulton, Texas, to Jim and Albina Wagner and was the second of six children. At the age of 2, she moved with her family to Danbury, Texas, and continued to live in the Angleton-Danbury area for 83 years. Georgia was married to Arthur Clinton Weldon until his sudden death in 1985. Together they had two children, Cathy Weldon Faires and Tina Weldon Butler. Georgia worked closely with Arthur in his home-building business and took great pride in designing interiors for new homes. Also, Georgia was a gifted seamstress, designing and sewing most of her daughters' clothes, including elaborate bridal gowns. In 1992, she married long-time friend, Ross Wood, and they enjoyed 15 years together until his death in 2007. Traveling, playing dominoes, camping and fishing at Somerville were part of their fun-filled days. For over 55 years, Georgia was a member of The First Baptist Church of Angleton, where she taught Sunday School, Training Union, and Vacation Bible School. She also played an active role with her daughters in Girls' Auxiliary. Georgia's closest friends were members of the church's Friendship Class, and she looked forward to class meetings and after-church lunches with "the girls." Georgia was preceded in death by daughter Cathy Weldon Faires. Georgia is survived by her daughter, Tina Weldon Butler and husband, Richard, of Karnes City; and their two sons, Clinton Butler and wife, Patricia, of Karnes City; Dustin Butler and wife, Eleanor, of Pflugerville; and son-in-law Charles Faires and daughter, Amber Faires, of Round Rock. Also, surviving Georgia is step-son, Eddie Wood and wife, Minnie, of Olney; and step-daughter, Peggy Wood Moran and husband, Doug, of Angleton. Her younger brother, Arnold Wagner and wife, Patsy, of Houston, as well as many nieces and nephews survive Georgia. Georgia is also survived by her greatest pride and joy, six great-grandchildren, Caden Faires, Daniel Butler, Richard Butler, Georgia Faires, Isabella Butler, and Valentina Butler. Funeral services will be held at Saturday, February 16, at 2 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Angleton. The family requests that memorials be made to the Television Ministry of the First Baptist Church of Angleton. The family extends a special thank you to the nursing staff at the Bluebonnet Nursing Home in Karnes City and Nurses in Touch Hospice in Kenedy for their loving care of Georgia in her final year.
