Gerald Edwin Mattson

Gerald Edwin Mattson passed away at his residence on April 23, 2016. He was born to Edwin and Lillian Mattson in Rudyard Michigan. Gerald graduated from Fordson High School in Dearborn Michigan in 1954 and University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1958. He married Linda Elizabeth Wilson in 1961 in Abbeville South Carolina. They were married for 42 years when she passed away in 2003. He began his career with the United States Army which allowed the family to live in Ft. Bragg, NC, Ft. Benning, GA., Green Bay, WI, Colorado Springs, CO., Leavenworth, KS., Harker Heights, TX and Stone Mountain, GA. Gerald spent time in Vietnam and Korea as well. He retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel from the Army after faithfully and honorable serving for 25 years. After working for a defense contractor, he and Linda became full time apartment owners in Panama City Beach, Florida. They both enjoyed the beautiful water and beaches there as well as the abundant seafood restaurants. Gerald is survived by his sister Barbara McGraw of Lansing Michigan; his son Matt Mattson of Hewitt, TX and wife Myrna - children Brianna and husband Barrett and Rylie and husband Matt, and great grandchildren Brayden and Lane; his daughter Kim Davenport of Lake Jackson Texas and husband Tim Davenport, grandchildren Megan Davenport, Rebecca Davenport and Scott Davenport, as well as 7 nieces and nephews.
