Giles Bassett "Buddy" Wood, 77 years of age, passed from this earth November 21, 2018 at Creekside Village Healthcare. Bud was born November 16, 1941 in Lufkin, Texas to G.B. and Beulah Copes Wood. He is the younger of two children. Bud and Carrol were married April 20, 1963. Three years later, Bud was drafted where he served in the United States Army for six years. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1972. Bud was very active in church ministry, both here in Angleton and abroad. He participated in the Volunteer Christian Builders program for twelve years. Many deep and lasting friendships were firmly rooted through these summer missions. Additionally, Bud served as deacon at both First Baptist and Second Baptist churches. He retired from Dow Chemical in Freeport where he was employed for twenty-seven years. Bud is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carrol Ann Wood, his daughter Regina Wood Mitchell and her husband Meredith Mitchell; two granddaughters Abigail Jean and Amber Nicole Mitchell; and his sister Florence Elizabeth "Betsy" Landrum. Bud was preceded in death by his father G.B. Wood and mother Beulah Copes Wood, and his son, Robert Dewayne Wood Pall bearers are Tommy Cooksey, Eddie Gentry, Tom Wilson, Glen Ladewig, James Peterson, and Weldon Zgarba. A Public Visitation will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 5-7:00 pm in Palms Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton with burial to follow at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions can be made on Bud's behalf to the First Baptist Church of Angleton Vision Fund or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
