Ginger Lee Williams, 82, of Angleton, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2020, surrounded by family, and holding the hand of her husband of 61 years. She is survived by her loving and faithful husband, Joseph D. Williams, her son, Ralph Williams of Greenville, Texas, daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Donald French of Angleton, Texas, daughter and future son-in-law, Elizabeth Williams and Larry Kellogg of Plain City, Utah, granddaughter, Alexandra Kolbe of Brooklyn, New York, her sister, Frances Ryan of Friendswood, Texas, her brother and sister-in-law, Doug and Patsy Sykes, and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Born on September 22, 1937 in Houston, Texas, to Ralph and Louise Hodges, Ginger's Sicilian grandparents, Felix and Lula Lewis, played a pivotal role in her upbringing. From her cooking to her manners, they shaped Ginger's foundation, and later inspired her to pass down Sicilian traditions. Ginger moved to Angleton in 1953, where she attended Angleton High School and met the love of her life, Joe. Weighing in at a mere 95 lbs, she approached Joe, the captain of the football team, and asked for his letterman jacket to wear at the football game. Seven years later, they were married, and Joe got his jacket back. Hand in hand, they raised three children and a granddaughter, and moved around the country before settling down back in Angleton. A devote Catholic, Ginger was most whole when caring for her family and church community. She embraced the role of wife and homemaker, and played an active role in her husband's surveying business. She typed countless fieldnotes and spent hours conducting research at the courthouse, while managing a full house and feeding them recipes from scratch. Ginger's mission was to raise children that were courteous, kind and intelligent, emphasizing that tolerance, inclusivity, charity and education were important and expected. Ginger's Sicilian heritage shone through when she served her community, acting on the funeral dinner committee at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she and her husband were members for over 50 years.
