Gladys Ann Hubenak

October 6, 1934 — August 25, 2018

Gladys Ann Hubenak (Ruzicka), 83, of Angleton, Texas, passed away on August 25, 2018. Gladys was born in West, Texas on October 6, 1934 to the late Frank and Annie Juris Ruzicka. Gladys graduated from West High School. After moving to El Campo, she spent her single years with five of her best girlfriends. They lived upstairs above the KULP Radio Station in El Campo, Texas, which still stands today playing polka music in the mornings. On September 1, 1956, she married Edward John Hubenak, Jr. upon his return from service in the US Army in Germany. She began her career in El Campo, Texas working at Foremost Dairy. They moved to Danbury, Texas in 1967 where she began working for Monsanto Chemical Company. She loved her job and all the wonderful people she worked with and retired in 1996. Gladys was a wonderful person inside and out. She was a beautiful woman with never a hair out of place and a smile always on her face. Her heart was one of the most loving hearts that God has ever put on this Earth. She was always caring and ready to give a helping hand. Family will tell you that people always referred to her as - your sweet mother, your sweet grandma, sweet Aunt Gladys, or that sweet Gladys. Wherever she was she would always start a conversation with anyone nearby. She always had a kind thing to say to everyone. She was a truly loving person. Just ask anyone who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Cindy O'Farrell and husband Steven of Angleton, son Gerald Hubenak, grandchildren Christopher Freeman and wife, Kimberly, Shalyn O'Farrell-Young and husband Jason, Amanda Hubenak, and Matthew Hubenak, and 7 great grandchildren, sisters Jackie Moff and Don of Angleton, Marie Labay and Bennie of Shiner, and brother Franklin Ruzicka of El Campo. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Steven Paul O'Farrell, II, and her husband, EJ who passed on April 7, 2018. We lost Gladys on EJ's birthday. It is a gift from heaven for her to be with the one who loved her the most on this Earth. Gladys has been missing EJ and has been telling how they would have been married 62 years on the first of September. It is a blessing that they will be spending that anniversary in Heaven together and into Eternity. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
