Glenn C Wootton

January 5, 1946 — November 9, 2018

Glenn Carroll Wootton, 72, died November 9, 2018, after a valiant battle with cancer. There will be a visitation at 10 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1713 N. Tinsley St., Angleton, followed by a memorial Mass celebrated by Father Victor Perez at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 26. Glenn was born January 5, 1946, in Sugar Land, Texas to Etta Mae and John P. Wootton and grew up in Rosharon. He attended Angleton schools and graduated in 1964. He also received an Associate in Applied Science from Prairie View A&M University. In 1966 Glenn married a girl he met on a blind date, Kathy Brown from Alvin. They celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in September 2018. Glenn was an auto mechanic when they married, and he went on to teach auto mechanics in the Windham School District. He became part-owner in the family Exxon service station in Rosharon. In 1976 Glenn and his partner, Johnny Whitesides, opened Arcola Automotive in Fresno. Glenn sold his half of the partnership to Johnny in 1988 and went to work for Bay Houston Towing Company, the company that owns the harbor tugs that serve Texas ports. He retired in 2011 after more than 20 years in the shipping industry. In his retirement Glenn enjoyed spending time with his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed traveling the world with old friends and making new friends along the way. Glenn was always happiest outdoors - fishing in the bays, hunting in the hill country, working in the yard, or just sitting on the back porch having a glass of wine with friends. Glenn is survived by his wife, Kathy, two sons, Chris (Sonia) of League City, and Greg (Beth) of North Carolina. He leaves four granddaughters, Krysta Perkins (Alex), Erin, Isabella, and Gabrielle; and two great granddaughters, Genevieve and Mia Perkins. He's survived by his sister, Betty Court (J.P.) and brother, Jimmy Wootton. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
