Guadalupe "Lupe" Valladares

Guadalupe "Lupe" Valladares, age 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Angleton, Texas, on June 18, 2021. Lupe saw tremendous change over the course of his life. He was born in a small village near the Sierra Madre Oriental mountain range in Mexico in the 1940s. It was there that he once helped capture a mountain lion that was terrorizing local residents. In 1968, he married Eva Escobedo, and the young couple soon immigrated to America. After experiencing life in larger cities like San Antonio and Houston, they chose to raise their three children in Angleton. A carpenter by trade, Lupe had a knack for all aspects of construction and eventually taught others from his decades of experience. Outside of work, he loved watching Western movies, listening to Nortea music, and reading The Facts newspaper. Lupe was exceptionally thoughtful, always going out of his way to be there for others. He also had a wonderful sense of humor, joking even when experiencing difficult times. In February, Lupe prayed to receive Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He later said he was grateful for all that he had been through because otherwise he would not have had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Eva Escobedo Valladares; his children, Nelida Valladares Lamb (Andy), Javier Valladares (Juany), and Alberto Valladares (Sarah Shabbir); his grandchildren, Xavier and Emmanuel; and his siblings, Juanita Garcia, Elvira Flores, and Apolinar Fuentes Leal. He is preceded in death by his parents, Panfilo Valladares and Leoncia Leal Ponce, and his siblings, Panfilo and Liandra. The Valladares family will receive friends and loved ones on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton.
