Guadalupe Pequeno

December 12, 1945 — January 11, 2020

Guadalupe Pequeo, age 74, passed away, January 11, 2020, at Angleton Danbury UTMB Campus. She was born December 12, 1945, in McAllen, TX, to Jose and Maria Luisa Garza. At the age of about 8, Guadalupe joined her family in migrant farm working. She traveled through many states picking cotton and a variety of fruits and vegetables. Not only did she help support her family during a recession, she learned the value of hard work first hand. Because she only completed the 4th grade, she self-taught herself how to read, write and do arithmetic. She would eventually open and operate her own businesses. An entrepreneur, she opened up her own plant nursery and her own breakfast taco business out of her home. She made the best papas con chorizo tacos. Guadalupe's early life was not easy or pleasant life. She struggle with trials and tribulations, and she shared these experiences with family and friends, in hopes that they would learn from her experiences. Guadalupe gave her life to God in 1978, at Central Assembly of God, in Angleton, TX. She, and her family, became members of Primera Iglesia Bautista in 1983, where she was an active member until her passing. Guadalupe had a passion for cooking. She would cook meals at her church, for benefits, weddings, and most importantly her family. Her grandchildren certainly loved her tamales and eating homemade flour tortillas. Well, not just grandchildren, but everyone. Guadalupe had an uncanny ability to serve her members of the church and community. Often giving people rides to the doctor, hospitals, and to church. She would host and participate in prayer meetings for families in need. She certainly believed in the power of prayer. She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Armando Sr.; sons, Enrique Sanchez, JR aka Moe-J (Belinda) Sanchez, Jose (Millie) Sanchez and Armando Jr.; daughters, Veronica (Carlos) Delgado, Juanita Ortega, and Gracie Pequeo; 17 grandchildren, Laticia Dyke, Kendra Luna, Denise Marquez, David Delgado, Fabian Arriaga, Aaron Ortega, Irene Gutelius, Scotty Gutelius, Marty Gutelius, Daniel Ortega, Andrew Ortega, Ariel Sanchez, Jocelyn Sanchez, Miguel Sanchez, Martin Ortega Jr., Isharay (Jay) Jones Jr., Sara Elena Turcios and 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Linda (Gonzalo) Guzman and Mariselda (David) Mosqueda; brother, Jesse (Gloria) Garza Sr.; and countless nieces and nephews. Guadalupe is preceded in death by her daughter, Maria Luisa Gutelius; parents, Jose and Maria Luisa Garza; sisters, Elida Oballe and Lydia Garza; brothers, Octavio Garza, David Garza, and Raul Garza.
