Gwendolyn Chloe Baumann

December 15, 1922 — July 26, 2012

Gwendolyn Chloe Rauh Baumann, a truly original independent woman died July 26, 2012. She was born on December 15, 1922, to Sophia Daily Rauh and William Earl Rauh, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Houston, TX. Her years growing up were spent in El Campo, TX and after graduating, she boarded a train to Los Angeles, to begin her studies at USC. She remained a faithful Trojan all her life. She married George Baumann and lived in New York, St. Louis, Chicago, and West Columbia, TX. They traveled the world during their 60 years of marriage. Gwen was a psychiatric therapist, owned a needlework business, and used her artistry to create canvases for others to enjoy. In addition, she also enjoyed nature, especially birds, and loved to read and do puzzles. She also enjoyed a very dry Beefeater's Martini with ice on the side and extra olives and chocolate anything. For the past 16 years she taught English as a second language to foreign students during their post graduate studies at the University of Houston Main Campus. She enjoyed this immensely and loved to tell everyone her stories. In this past year, she moved from Houston and came to live in Angleton, TX with her niece Leah Tigner and Leah's husband Tim Tigner. It was their honor to have her stay with them. Aunt Gwen will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
