Clyde Hudson Flanagan Jr., 72, of Angleton, TX, was welcomed into heaven August 2, 2019. Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 11:00am in Mt. Enterprise, TX at Woodlawn Heights Cemetery located off Hwy 259 on CR 3212, Mt. Enterprise, TX 75681. Hudson was born November 5, 1946 in Houston, TX to Lillian Lucille McGee Flanagan and Clyde Hudson Flanagan, Sr. The family moved to Mt. Enterprise, TX where Hudson grew up. He went on to attend Penola Junior College and Stephen F. Austin University. He met his wife, Cathy Vaughan, in Pasadena, TX while working a summer construction job in 1967 and they were married in 1972. Hudson worked for Texas Department of Correction and various construction jobs before joining Industrial Specialist (later known as Brand) where he became the Safety Director and retired in 2011 after 30 years. Hudson was a devout Christian serving as a Sunday School teacher from his early twenties and later becoming a deacon. Even during his cancer treatments at MD Anderson, he continued to witness and give many people what he called a "little gift" which was a booklet containing the books of John & Romans from the Bible. He would always tell folks, "it contains the Word of God and tells of eternal life through Jesus Christ." He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed numerous elk hunting trips to Colorado as well as bear, pheasant, quail & dove hunts to Idaho, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas, and Alabama. Fishing filled many of his retirement days and he enjoyed showing each of his 7 grandchildren how to fish. Hudson was preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Vaughan Flanagan; brother Danny Flanagan and wife, Sue, of Mt. Enterprise, TX; son, Jared C. Flanagan and wife, Pamela, of New Braunfels, TX; son, Kyle D. Flanagan and wife, Melanie, of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA; grandchildren Owen, Andrew, Kade, Hudson G., Anna Kate, Declan, and Quinn Flanagan; and 6 nieces and 4 nephews.
