J. Eric Smith, 52 of Angleton passed away at home surrounded by his daughter and friends on Sunday, December 24, 2017. Eric was born October 7, 1965 in Freeport, Texas to Douglas Ray and Betty Ann Bills Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Ray Smith, best friend, Alton Ray Westberry, and his four legged daughter, Heidi. Eric is survived by his daughter, Allyson Noelle Smith, his 2 four legged daughters, Ava and Sadie of Angleton, mother, Betty Ann Smith of Angleton, brother, David Smith and wife, Darenda of Carrollton, and nieces, Emily and Lindsey Smith of Carrollton. Eric was owner and operator of Allyson's Upholstery in Angleton, current member and past Chief of Angleton Volunteer Fire Dept., member of AVFD's cook off team The Red Devils, and member of Angleton Masonic Lodge #829 AF & AM. Pallbearers will be Hayden Myers, Trenton Myers, David Cruse, Brett Weinberger, Dale Felder, John O'Brien, Lee Weidner and John Cole. Honorary Pallbearers will be Active and Retired members of Angleton Volunteer Fire Dept. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00am at the First Presbyterian Church in Angleton. Burial will follow at the Angleton Cemetery. Lunch will follow at the American Legion Hall in Angleton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Eric Smith Memorial Fund at Texas Gulf Bank, 1717 N. Velasco, Angleton.
