James Douglas (Doug) Sutton was born January 21, 1943, a cold and snowy Thursday, in Peoria, Illinois. He passed away peacefully on December 16, 2014 after a lengthy battle with prostate cancer. Doug is survived by his mother Juanita, his wife of 42 years Marguerite, his sons Bryant (Caitlynn), Stephen (Melissa), grandsons Branden and Liam and sisters Vickie (Gary) Tesnar and Debra (Larry) Hollister and nieces Meridith (Matthew), Kimberly (William), Megan and nephews James, Allen and Corey as well as numerous friends. In 1954, his family moved to Orlando, Florida, due to his father's health. After graduating from William R. Boone High School in 1961, Doug joined the U.S.A.F. for 4 years as a heavy ground radar maintenance technician. Doug returned to Orlando and graduated from Valencia Junior College and Florida Technological University (now UCF) with a B.S. in Engineering. In 1969, Doug and his future wife, Marguerite, had their first date at the 24 Hours of Daytona. Doug and Marguerite were married on November 18, 1972. In 1976, their first son, Bryant was born. In 1981, their second son, Stephen was born. Doug received his MSM from Rollins College and worked for NCR for 8 years. Doug was hired by Intermedics and the family moved to Texas in 1982. Doug enjoyed his time as an assistant Scoutmaster in Troop 531 and shared his memorable Scouting experiences with friends. He enjoyed spending time at deer camp in Llano for many years with his family and friends. The last several years of hunting were spent at good friends Don & Kathy's cabin in Minnesota, which was an entirely different hunting experience. He also enjoyed Corvette related activities. He helped his sons to become loving, hard-working individuals who know the value of friendship. His well-known words of wisdom are, "If you're going to be dumb, you have to be tough," and "This too shall pass." A Life Celebration will be held on Tuesday, December 30th at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton at 6:30pm. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Orlando, Florida.
