James Eldon Smith

James Eldon Smith, 83, of Danbury passed away on Friday, April 17, 2015 at his home. James was born March 15, 1932 in Allen, OK to Elton & Tishie Jones Smith. He was a lifetime Brazoria County Resident and lived in Danbury since 1963. He was a member of the Danbury Baptist Church, a US Army Veteran. He was the first President of the Danbury Library, A Monsan to Chocolate Bayou Retiree. He was a member of the Honeycutt-Chovanec American Legion Post, a Charter member of Danbury Masonic Lodge 1432 A.F. & A.M. A member of the El Mina Shrine and a Braz Clown known to many as "Tubby." His parents and brother, Glen Smith preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Smith of Danbury, Children Randy Smith & wife Rhonda of Alvin, & Tonni Laine & husband Mitchell Laine of Angleton, four grandchildren Keith Smith & wife Tina of West Columbia, Brent Smith of Angleton, Brandon Smith of Angleton & Aimee Meeks of Danbury, eight great-grandchildren: Jacob & Aubree Smith, Megan, Mya & Carson Smith and Brook, Beth & Sadie Meeks, and sister Ermal Lee Heddins and numerous other relatives. Funeral Services are set for Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Danbury Baptist Church with Reverend Ramey Heddins and Pastor David Catoe officiating. Burial will follow at Danbury Cemetery with a Masonic Graveside Service. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 21, 2015 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Serving as Pallbearers will be members of the Shriners and Danbury Masonic Lodge. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren and lifelong friend Jody Elam. In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Shrine.
