James "Jim" Pope went home to be with Jesus on July 29, 2020, 42 years after marrying his beloved wife Lisa. He was the most selfless, loving, and Christ-like man. He loved God, his family, and other people so well. He was born to Herbert, Jr. and Nello Pope and had what he considered to be the "best childhood that a boy could ask for" hunting and fishing along the banks of the Llano River. He married Lisa Moss, and they raised Kimberly and Stephen in Angleton, Texas. Jim enjoyed providing for his family, taking them on road trips across the country, and seeing God's hand in his creation. He loved spending time in the Word and sharing his faith in Jesus. Jim truly did run the race with endurance. The battle of early-onset Alzheimer's that he fought at the end of his life is a very tough one, and we know he is in a new heavenly body, his work here is done, and he has left this world a better place. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Herbert Pope, Jr. and Nello Pope. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lisa Pope, and their children Kimberly Collins (married to Charles Collins with two sons Luke and Seth), Stephen Pope (married to Allison Pope with their daughter Abigail), and sister Cathy Pope. A funeral service will take place at Angleton Second Baptist Church (1817 Shanks Road) at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 1st. A graveside service will take place in Llano City Cemetery (299 St. Mary) at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 3rd. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Gathering Place (P.O. Box 2050, Angleton, TX 77516), a place that provided love, care, and community to the family through the tough battle of Alzheimer's. Service Details.
