James Lancelot Wise, 77 of Angleton, Texas, passed away Sunday night May 1, 2022 in Lake Jackson, Texas after fighting the tough battle of Dementia. He was Born in Freeport, Texas on July 27, 1944. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Murrell Wise; mother, Grace Lucille Whitefield Wise; brothers, Lloyd Wise, Louis Wise, Merle Wise, and Robert Wise; sisters, Diana Rose Wise and Mabel Wise Moore. H is survived by his loving wife and soulmate Janet Lynn Wise; his special little dog Gibbs; sons, Michael Wise and wife Tara of Lake Jackson, Mark Wise and wife Linda of Bay City, Jerry Wise and wife Leeanne of Wild Peach. His grandsons, Aubrey Gavin Wise, Grayson Diesel Wise; his granddaughter, Kailee Bible; and brother, Alfred Murrell Wise, Jr. and wife Kathy of Brazoria, along with numerous nieces and nephews. James, aka "Pop" was a very skilled master mechanic through the years. He owned Wise Auto repair in Clute, Texas for many years. Later he owned and operated J&J Truck and Equipment in Freeport, Texas on Gulf Blvd. He was a former Sweeny City Councilman and President of the Sweeny EDC to help the community he loved. Through the years he loved riding motorcycles competing in off road enduros and later riding Harley Davidsons with Jan. James had a very colorful personality and would often embellish his stories which we referred to as "Pop-Izms". He loved a captured audience and making people laugh. For almost 40 years his passion was to take Jan to Pedal Steel Guitar schools and shows across the states. He loved and made so many friends from all over the world to support her passion for the pedal steel guitar. In recent years he loved dancing to Lowell and Debi at Los Paisas in Clute and at the American Legion in Angleton. He has left us with great memories and laughs. His wishes were to be cremated.
