James Louis Martin

James Louis Martin May 25, 1933 - July 18, 2017 James "Jim" Louis Martin, 84, went home to be with the Lord on July 18, 2017. He was born on May 25, 1933 in Humble, TX to George Douglas and Eva Elizabeth Koinm Martin. A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, July 22 at First United Methodist Church in Angleton at 11 a.m. He graduated from El Campo High School in 1951, and from Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in 1960. He was in the U.S. Army from 1953-56, serving in Korea, and in the U.S Army Reserves till 1961. He worked at BASF in Freeport and retired in Angleton to spend more time in his woodworking workshop. He was active in the Southern Brazoria County chapter of SWT Alumni Association, and a member of the Angleton Lion's Club, serving as president numerous times. He was a member of Angleton First United Methodist Church, and was active within the Cradle of Texas Walk to Emmaus community. He enjoyed traveling, watching movies, and spending time with family. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Katherine Brady. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Hudson of High Island; daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Kirk Garner of Cypress; and son, Howard Martin of Austin; grandchildren, Michelle and her husband Michael Hutchinson, Katherine Garner, Joel Garner, John Martin, and Brenna Martin; and great-grandson, Isaac Hutchinson. Interment will be in Morgan Cemetery, in Security, TX. Memorials may be made to the Texas Lions Camp, P.O. Box 290247, Kerrville, TX 78029.
