James Murray "Jim" Lewis

James (Jim) Murray Lewis, 88, of Angleton passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 16, 2021, due to complications from a stroke. Jim will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a selfless and loving husband, father and grandparent. Jim was born on April 23, 1933, in Wilson, Oklahoma to Parker Martin Lewis and Fannie Caroline Lewis. He proudly served in the United States Army which allowed him to see the world. He married the love of his life, Dottie Lewis, on August 15, 1961 and the marriage was blessed with three sons. Jim and Dottie were married for 56 years and their love was like no other. Jim taught us what it is to love and dedicate oneself to your spouse and family. Jim worked for the BASF Corporation and retired after more than 30 years of service. Jim loved many things in life, not just his family. Jim enjoyed photography, gardening and attending Friday night football games cheering on the Angleton Wildcats, which he did for many years. Even late in life, Jim loved his independence to do these things. His life was a living example of the Bible verse, John 15:13 -"Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends." He loved the Lord and was an active member of Second Baptist Church in Angleton for many years. Survivors include his sons, Mike (Carla) Lewis, Scott Lewis, Greg (Cindy) Lewis, four grandchildren, Jessica (Clint) Lobpries, Bradley Lewis, Emily Lewis, Kaylee Lewis, and a great granddaughter, Emery Lobpries. We invite you to join us and celebrate his life and legacy. Visitation is scheduled from 9-10 a.m. and the funeral services will follow at 10 a.m., Thursday (May 20th) at Palm's Funeral Home in Angleton with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://act.alz.org.
