James Volney Cooley

James Volney Cooley (Jim), left his earthly body on February 2, 2022. He was born October 3, 1938 to parents James Dorsey & Elizabeth Jane (Richardson) Cooley in Freeport Tx. He was raised in Brazoria and the Wild Peach area. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mike Cooley and sister Francis Rylee. Jim graduated from West Columbia High School in 1957. Not long after high school Jim joined the Navy. In the Navy, Jim had the opportunity to fly around the world as an Aviation Electronics Technician and a Flight Communications Operator. Jim loved his country and dedicated his life to the Navy from which he retired. After retiring, Jim met his forever fishing partner and the love of his life Darlene McClusky Green. Soon after they met and were married, Jim became an instant father to two boys he loved and raised as his own. Jim's second love was his bay house in Bastrop Bay. For 40 years Jim and Darlene took countless trips to the bay house with their sons and granddaughters making memories that would last a lifetime. The bay house was always Jim's "Happy Place". Jim is survived by his wife Darlene Cooley of Angleton, Tx, sons Monty Green and wife Natosha & Jody Green. Sisters, Ethel (Sissy) Lewis and Sharon Cooley Granddaughters; Jessie Shephens (Ryan), Kasey Green ( Micah Ezelle) and Taylor Whitten. Great Grandchildren; Raelynn and James Stephens, Veta and Nash Ezelle. Service Details.
