Janice Sweetman Evans, 74 years old, of West Columbia passed away on February 5, 2022 in her home with her husband by her side. Janice, affectionately known by her friends and family as Charlie, was born in Navasota, Texas to Clyde and Irene Sweetman, 5 minutes after her twin sister Jan. Janice was loved by many people and if you ever met her, you would never forget her. Janice met her husband Gordon in 1974 doing what they loved most, dancing. She had a 20 year plus career in insurance before becoming the Brazoria County Elections Director. She was the Elections director for 16 years and retired to travel the world with Gordon, Jan and Ron, but she just couldn't stay away from elections too long. She continued to serve her community by being an elections clerk and working at polling locations all over Brazoria County until the day she passed away. Janice and Gordon opened their home to over a hand full of exchange students throughout the years, Nico Shroder of Germany, Stefan Rampp of Germany and Holger Volk of Germany just to name a few. These students quickly became the adopted children of Janice and Gordon and were treated as such. Janice is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Irene Sweetman and brother-in-law Donald Evans. Survivors include her husband Gordon Evans, twin sister Jan Churchill and husband Ron, brother Dennis Sweetman, nephews Shannon Churchill, Christopher Churchill and Jamie, Todd Churchill and Kristy. Sister-in laws Gayle, Grace and Bonnie and their families. Janice's services will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas.
