Jason Blankenship

December 18, 1969 — October 29, 2013

Our beloved son Jason Blankenship, Ph.D, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on October 29, 2013 at the age of 43 in a tragic motorcycle accident. He has completed his earthly tasks and has gone forward to accept his reward in heaven. Jason was born in Freeport, Texas on December 18, 1969. His loving parents James F. and Barbara Partin Blankenship of Oyster Creek survive him. Jason graduated from Angleton High School in 1988. He attended Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas where he received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Psychology. Jason went on to earn his Ph.D in Psychology from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas in 1999. Jason was a Senior Research Scientist and Research Assistant Professor at CASAA (Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions) at The University of New Mexico. He was a member of the research team advancing the field of study in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders. His research involved travels to South Africa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, North Carolina, and Italy. He was devoted to his research and believed the result of their work could help those affected by this devastating disorder. He had great respect, admiration and love for those with whom he worked. Jason also loved his volunteer work with the Make A Wish Foundation in Albuquerque and found great joy in the role he played as a "wish granter" to the children whose lives had been touched by serious illness. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ‘Jason Blankenship Memorial Fund' at any branch of the New Mexico Educator's Federal Credit Union (NMEFCU). http://newmexico.wish.org The hope is that enough funds will be raised to earn a Make a Wish Star in Jason's name which will grant a wish for a child. He leaves behind a loving family: parents, Jim and Barbara Blankenship, aunts and uncles, Dorothy Adams of Lake Jackson, John and Maggie Blankenship of Angleton, Dr. Lawrence and Donna Jablecki of Angleton and Jim and Karen Terrell of Angleton, also loving cousins: Mindy Burch, Dr. Nathaniel Jablecki, Sarah Jablecki, Cara Drenner, Corey Terrell and Amy Terrell, Donnie Partin, Missy Ellis, Sharon Partin, Matt Adams and Christine Cook and many dear friends.
