Jeronimo 'Jerry' Arce Jr.

Jeronimo (Jerry) Arce Jr. Of Angleton Texas passed away on July 18, 2015 at Memorial Hermann hospital in Houston. Jerry was born October 18, 1942 in Mission, Texas to Jeronimo Arce Sr. and Isaura Lopez Arce. After serving in the Navy on the USS Charles R. Ware DD-865 He began his 28 year career working for Texas Department of corrections. He worked at Darrington, Central, Retrieve, and Ramsey Units, while working for TDC he received his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston. After retiring from TDC he began his second career working for the Brazoria county probation department as an adult probation officer for 10 years. He also worked as a Bailiff at the Brazoria county court house and was a volunteer for UTMB auxiliary department. He is a descendent of Isabel Sanchez original land grant/porcion 21 owner that was granted land directly from the king of Spain in 1764 in what is now known as Texas (The Rio Grande Valley). He was a member of most holy trinity catholic church and the knights of Columbus and was a fourth degree Knight. He had a love of old cars and restored many vehicles and was an avid white wing and deer hunter. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and could light up any room. In his profession at TDC and Probation he was well respected and forever be known as "Major Arce". He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Brother and Uncle. His family meant the world to him and he always made sure they were taken care of. Jerry is survived by his Wife of 48 years Esperanza (Hope) of Angleton, daughter Sandra Arce Lopez of Angleton, Son Oscar Arce and Wife Angela of Angleton. Grandchildren Brandon Lopez, Mikey Lopez, Rylan Arce, and his baby girl, Ashtyn Arce. Sister Yolanda Ramirez (Heron) Pharr, Brother Efrain Arce (Jane) Pharr, Brother Richie Arce (MaryAnn) Houston, Sister Diana Ruiz (Rudy) McAllen, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are, Manuel Ramos, Balde Torres, Mike Avila, Joe Gonzlez Froy Prez, and Marco Ramirez. Honorary Pallbearers are Chris Coale, Eddie Ramos, Brandon Lopez, Mikey Lopez, Rylan Arce, and Ashtyn Arce. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 5pm-8pm, Rosary at 7pm. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, Texas, with burial to follow in Angleton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers we are asking for a donation in Jerry's name to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church or St. Thomas food pantry, 1713 N. Tinsley, Angleton Texas 77515.
