In Loving Memory of Jerry Wayne Mathews December 30, 1937 ~ December 22, 2016 Jerry Wayne Mathews, 78, of Jones Creek, Texas passed away on December 22, 2016 in Lake Jackson, Texas. He was born on December 30, 1937 in El Reno, Oklahoma to William Donald Mathews and Mozelle (Anglin) Mathews. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 24, 2016 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, Texas. The family welcomes friends for a time of visitation from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Angleton Cemetery immediately following service. Jerry was a member and a Deacon of First Baptist Church of Shady Acres. He proudly served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. Jerry loved to fish, and playing with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Jerry was very opinionated and well spoken, was also a Member of American Legion, Post #241. Left to cherish Jerry's memory is his wife, Patricia (Ober) Mathews, his children; Raymond Mathews (wife, Brenda), Curtis Pate (wife, Laura), Sherry Jeffcoat (husband, Wes), Vicki Kelley (husband, Benny), Peggy Mitchell (husband, Wayne), and Jean Ann Morris (husband, Jerry), his brothers; Donnie Mathews (wife, Jean), and Jackie Mathews (wife, Janice), sisters; Patsy Price and Linda Sluizer (husband, Chuck). Jerry is also survived by his 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Jerry is preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Mathews, his parents; William Donald Mathews and Mozelle (Anglin) Mathews, and his brother, Eddie Mathews. Serving as Pallbearers will be Christopher Kelley, Matthew Smerek, Heath Pate, Cody Pate, Michael Jeffcoat, and William Stine. Honorary Pallbearers are Raymond Mathews and Curtis Pate. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the FBC of Shady Acres Youth Fund.
