Jesse Robert Smith

September 22, 1929 — June 30, 2012

Jesse Robert Smith was born on September 22, 1929, in Rosenberg, Texas. He passed away at his home in Angleton surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at the age of 82. Survivors include his wife Monette Smith, one sibling, Frank Smith (Imajean), and his five children, daughter Suzelle Martin(Dan), sons Rob Smith (Amy), Jean-Pierre Farkas (Cindy), and Gaby Farkas (Betsy), and daughter Jessica Phillips (Chaney). Jesse, aka Amper, is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Rhiannon Smith, Danny Martin, Chris Freeman(Kim), Gabrielle Farkas, Cassie Martin, Sabre Pacheco(Roger), Matthew Hubenak, Amanda Hubenak, Shyenne Smith, Tyler Farkas, Taylor Phillips, and his newest grandson, Trusten Phillips. He also had four great-grandchildren: Ariana Pacheco, Zachary Jones, Zander Jones and Zoie Freeman. His nieces and nephews include: Blake Smith, Gail White, and Melody Jacobson. He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Sugar. Jesse Robert Smith was a veteran of the Korean War, the owner of Smith Bricklaying Company for over 35 years, and a diehard fisherman for his entire life. Our Dad was a simple man, no frills, all Texan. He taught us how to work hard and fish harder, how to enjoy the simple things in life, and how to see the best in everyone. He certainly saw the best in us. He thought we could accomplish anything and could do no wrong. He was our biggest fan. We will greatly miss his encouraging words, his presence at all our events, his persistent faith in God and his hard-headed will to never give up. Ringing ever-true in our spirits now - are the words he spoke to us at the end of each hot, Texas, summer, bricklaying day - "Clean out the mixer and let's go home." For the last time Dad, you cleaned the mixer, and you are finally home. You can rest now. You have fought the fight - you have finished the race. You were the best Dad. We love you.
