Jimmy Ray Slawson, 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home, in the arms of his loving wife, Thursday, April 15, 2022. Jimmy was born September 13, 1956 in Freeport, Texas to Marvin and Betty Slawson. Jimmy grew up in Clute, Texas and graduated from Brazoswood High School in December 1974. Following graduation, Jimmy attended an electrical trade school in College Station before returning to Clute and going to work in Dow Chemical Co. as a contractor. Jimmy later hired on with Dow, where he worked as an operator in the Light Hydrocarbons 5 and 6 Plants for 25 years, before retiring from Dow in 2004. Following his retirement from Dow, Jimmy worked six years at STP Nuclear Plant in Bay City, and most recently retired from a self-owned business. Jimmy met Susan Drury, the love of his life, in February of 1977 and they married September 2, 1977. They were blessed with two children, James and Julie. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Susan, son, James (Candis) Slawson and daughter, Julie (Cody) Danford, grandchildren Coleton and Austynn Coupland, Brynnlei Slawson, Hailey and Ava Danford, one brother, John Slawson, two uncles, and a host of loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Betty Slawson and his grandparents, Shorty (Ivel) and Jessie Slawson and John and Dorothy Ryan. Jimmy will forever be remembered for his patience, humor, and his calm nonchalance by his family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton from 5-7 pm. His funeral will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at Northway Baptist Church in Angleton at 10am. Honorary pallbearers will be Coleton Coupland, Cody Danford, Joey Berry, Jeff Berry, James Drury, Joseph Drury, Roger Krumrey, Ben Glowacki, and Nathan Marek. Service Details.
