Joanne Walters

It is with great sadness that the family of Joanne Walters announces her passing. Joanne passed away Saturday, June 8 at the age of 79 at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, TX. Joanne was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on March 15, 1940 to Bennie and Mary Ethel Nichols. Joanne married the love of her life, Jimmy Walters, in 1958. The couple settled in Angleton where they raised their five children; Diane, James, Denise, Christi, and Brandi. Joanne and Jimmy spent nine years in Dothan, Alabama where they were members of Calvary Baptist Church before returning back to Angleton in 2012. Joanne was a dedicated and hard worker. She worked as a manager of Walmart for 25+ years before retiring. She and her husband were faithful members of Northway Baptist Church. Along with being a Deacon's wife, she served in various ministries within the church. Joanne was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was very proud of her family and was the best "Granny" to her 11 grandchildren. Joanne loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company. Joanne was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. And we can't forget her love for diet cokes! She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. She is survived by her children, Diane Peltier and her daughter, Melanie Peltier; James Walters and wife, Tonya and their children, Krystin and Kyle Walters; Denise Cargill and her children, Kaysie Bradburn and husband, Lee and their children Jude, Jonah, and Willa, and Cade Cargill and his wife Sunni; Christi Byrd and husband, Michael and their children, Ashlyn Byrd and Bailey McIntosh and husband, Hank and their children Henry and Wyatt; Brandi Petree and husband, Aaron and their children Shaylee Ward, Nicholas, Noah and Carson Petree; Ricky Price and wife Debbie and their children Angela Laird, Ricky Price Jr. and wife, Kim, Elizabeth Price and Kelly Price; sister Carolyn Jennings and husband, Jimmy; and her puppy, Bella. She was greeted at Heaven's gates by her loving husband, Jimmy Walters, her parents Bennie and Mary Ethel Nichols, and her two granddaughters, Stephanie Peltier and Angel Byrd. Visitation will be held at Palms Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, June 11. The funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 12, at Northway Baptist Church. Service Details.
