In Loving Memory Of Johnathan Ray "J.R." Wagner June 11, 1986 ~ December 11, 2016 Johnathan Ray Wagner "J.R.", 30 of West Columbia, Texas gained his angel wings on December 11, 2016. JR. was born June 11, 1986 and grew up in Angleton, Texas. J.R. graduated from Angleton High School in 2004 and Sam Houston State University in 2009 with a degree in Kinesiology and a minor in History. J.R. returned to Angleton ISD to coach and teach. This is where he met his future wife, Katy Scarborough, which was the catch of his life. They married on July 11, 2015. J.R. and Katy were overjoyed with the news that they are expecting a baby boy in early June. Coach Wagner loved his kids in class and on the field. He was exceptionally dedicated and loved his students and football players. J.R. was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and if you knew him, you likely heard him say, "It's a good day to be fishing." He will be missed by all that knew and loved him. He was a wonderful son, cherished by his parents, loving husband, adored by his wife, friend, and coach, loved and respected by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Katy Wagner, son, Jaxson Ray, parents Ray and Sandy Wagner of Angleton, mother-in-law and father-in-law Cindy and Johnny Scarborough of Sweeny, grandmother Aida Cisneros Buchanan, sister Shannon Vance and her husband Rodney (Curly), brother-in-law's Casey Scarborough and his wife KC, and Cory Scarborough and his wife Jaclyn, aunts and uncles Cindy and Tommy Atkins, Pam and Melton Goodson, Ricky and Lisa Wagner, Cynthia Cisneros, Sadie and Rusty McMillan, Alan Cisneros, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by this grandfather Arthur Cisneros, grandparents Raymond and Jo Wagner, grandmother Doris Wilson, great grandmother Minnie Ruth Saunders and great grandmother Albina Wagner. Pall bearers are Michael Cone, Chris Atkins, Romie Farrer, Casey Scarborough, Cory Scarborough and D.J. Rouse. Honorary pall bearers are Michael Echevarria, Trenton Lewis, Brandon Auer, Zach Fink, Justin Linder and AISD coaching staff. Visitation will be at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton on Wednesday, December 14th from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The funeral will be at Angleton First United Methodist Church on Thursday, December 15th at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to "AISD Athletics" and sent to 1900 N.
