Johnnie Leonard Clawson was born on October 13, 1935, in Yale, Oklahoma to parents Leland Leonard and Minnie Alice (Bickell) Clawson. Johnnie lived with his family in Yale until he graduated High School, then joined the Air Force. While stationed at Harlingen Air Force Base, Johnnie met the love of his life, Virginia Louise Collier. They married on July 1, 1958, in Weslaco, Texas, which was followed by the birth of their daughters, Sheree’ and Colette. Johnnie retired from the United States Forest Service as a Civil Engineer, after working a combined 35 years in Flagstaff, Arizona and Hot Springs, Arkansas. After retirement, Johnnie and Virginia settled in Danbury, Texas.
Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents, 9 siblings, wife Virginia and daughter Colette.
He is survived by his daughter, Sheree’ Allen (husband Larry), granddaughters Shonda Caylor (husband Bennett), Chelsie Bruemmer (husband Sean), great-grandchildren Jett & Mila Bruemmer, and many nieces & nephews.
Johnnie was a straight shooter who always had a charismatic way of leaving a lasting impression with everyone he met. These memories will forever be carried in our hearts.
Family and Friends are welcome to join in celebrating Johnnie’s life and legacy on Friday May 31 at Palm’s Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM followed by a graveside ceremony at the Danbury Cemetery.
Johnnie’s family wants to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Creekside Alzheimer’s Special Care Center for providing him with genuine love and care in the last year of his life.
