Joseph John "Jody" Sebesta

August 2, 1925 — April 21, 2021

Joseph "Jody" John Sebesta, 95 of Danbury, passed away April 21, 2021. Many people called him by different names, Joe, Jody and most just called him "Pop". He was born on August 2, 1925 in Snook, Texas and came to Danbury when he was an infant by train in a cardboard box. He attended Danbury schools by riding his horse there and back. He began rice farming for several farmers in the area and later having his own operation. In 1973, He was awarded the Outstanding Farmer/Rancher Award. In 2017, he was recognized by Danbury FFA for past farmers "honoring our heritage". He retired from Rice Farming in the early 90's and then begin to build up his Cattle operation and hay business, which he ran until his health begin to fail this past year. His grandchildren made him the happiest; from showing cattle or pigs across the State of Texas, to playing sports. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons winning the State Championship in baseball for Danbury High School and Brazosport Christian Academy. He was preceded in death by his spouse of 54 years, Bonnie Sebesta; his parents John and Carrie Sebesta. Joe was the last remaining sibling of 10 children. He is survived by his children, Jo Lynn Ellis (Donnis) of Danbury, Joe "Butch" Sebesta of Houston, Carolyn Dees (Danny) of Danbury, & Glenn Sebesta (Tracylynn) of Danbury. His Grandchildren, Jodi Mann (Shawn) of Bridgeport, Kody Ellis (Kara) of Houston, Derrick Dees (Angela) of Danbury, Darrin Dees (Kera) of Danbury, Matt Dees (Cailey) of Danbury, Nick Dees (Shelby Frank) of Danbury, Dakota Sebesta (Lacey) of Danbury, & Keaton Sebesta of Angleton; Great grandchildren, Brady and Karly Mann of Bridgeport, Chloe and Barrett Novak of Danbury, Emme and Fisher Dees of Danbury, Baylor and Major Dees of Danbury, & Jax and Banks Dees of Danbury. Special thanks to UTMB nurses for their care in his final days and their patience for his large family. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, April 23, 2021 at Community Baptist Church in Danbury. Funeral Services will be 4:00 pm Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Community Baptist Church with burial at Danbury Cemetery. Pallbears will be Kody Ellis, Shawn Mann, Derrick Dees, Darrin Dees, Matt Dees, Nick Dees, Dakota Sebesta, & Keaton Sebesta. In lieu of usual remembrances donations may be made to Community Baptist Church, P.O. Box 738, Danbury, Tx, 77534 or a charity of your choice.
