Joyce Ann Welch Germany

July 5, 1940 — October 31, 2021

Joyce Ann Proske Welch Germany, passed away on October 31, 2021, at the age of 81. Joyce is preceded in death by her father, Norbert Proske; mother, Lucylle Proske; husband, Reuben Welch; husband, Garvin Germany, Jr., and sons Donnie Welch and Gary Allen Welch. She is survived by her brother, Billy Proske; her children: Kenneth Welch, Darryl Welch (Ilse), Carol Welch-Krueger, Cindy Beswick (Tom), and Terri Germany (Michael Denton). Additionally, she is remembered by her 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. Joyce was born in Austin, Texas on July 5, 1940. She grew up in Giddings, Texas, until the family moved to Freeport, Texas as she was starting high school. As a graduate of Brazosport High School (58'), she was active in DECA and was named club Sweetheart twice. Joyce soon married Reuben Welch on May 23, 1959, and began her life as a mother, a legal secretary, and the wife of a Baptist minister. She and Reuben loved to travel to Colorado with the family during summer vacations. Later they enjoyed going dancing and even went on a cruise. After losing Reuben in 1977, Joyce later married Garvin Germany on February 20, 1982. They were married until his death in 2010. Joyce and Garvin enjoyed flying in his plane to dinner dates all over Texas. Joyce was happy to hit the campaign trail with Garvin to judge barbecue, beans, and potato salad all over Brazoria County during his political career. She and Garvin continued her love of dancing by joining a dance club. While Joyce was very active, she most enjoyed being at home watching sports or reality T.V. or spending time with her many grandchildren. She was always proud of her children and grandchildren and could be seen in the stands as often as possible to support each child. Joyce always said she was fortunate to have had two good husbands who gave her a wonderful life. When asking friends and coworkers to describe her, words continually spoken are kind, sweet, gentle, loving, and caring. She had an infectious smile that could light up a room in an instant. As a legal secretary, she was at the top of her field. Joyce was well respected among lawyers and judges throughout Brazoria County. In her retirement, she spent time transporting cancer patients to M.D. Anderson for treatments, traveling to see grandchildren in college, and enjoying her beautiful roses. Joyce desired nothing more than to see her family together and happy. She will be dearly missed.
