Joyce Madean Greenhaw

December 23, 1929 — June 27, 2024

Joyce Madean Harris was born at home in Freestone County, Texas on December 23, 1929 to Emory and Ida Mae (Beene) Harris. The family moved to Houston, Texas when she was young. At age 15 she worked at the original Foley's Department Store. She met her soul mate, Jimmie Dell Greenhaw and they married on January 3, 1947. They were married almost 70 years until his death on November 8, 2016.

She is survived by her 4 children, Wanda Carr (Gary Bornemann), James Greenhaw, Madell Ferguson (Robert), Audrey Greenhaw. Her grandchildren, Derek Greenhaw (Kristen), Kimberly Gerich (Ernie), Rory Greenhaw (Jamie Lout), Tammy Tillison (Randy), Quentin Matejek, Aidan Matejek, and Kristen Holt. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandaughter Shannon Craddock Gries, grandson Cody Greenhaw, her brother, Emory Harris Jr., sister, Doris Jean Hunter, and by her youngest sister, Betty Jo Pitchler( Who passed only 6 days before her.)

She was the last of that generation in our large extended family and she loved them all.

She loved her family and if she liked you, she also considered you as part of her family. Her favorite things these last years have been attending family get-togethers and reunions; having lunches with our BFFs, Letha Kuck and Trecia Byrd; enjoying the music of Debi and Lowell and watching everyone dancing. She also enjoyed the music of Ray Pate when she visited Madell. She loved all our dancing friends, and they were so good to us. We were blessed with great family, friends and neighbors. Special thanks to David and Sheila Lopez for all your help. Also, to all the people at Community Health Network and Hospice.
