Judy Truksa Prihoda, age 70, passed away on September 15, 2015 after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Emil Prihoda; their daughter and her husband Amber and Shannon Skorupinski; grand-daughter Macy Shipman; and step-grand children: Cory, Courtney, and Cody Skorupinski. She is preceded in death by her parents. Born April 21, 1945 to Otto Truksa and Nell Cooper Truksa, Judy grew up in Alvin and graduated from Alvin High School. She graduated with a BS in Economics/Accounting from Stephen F. Austin University. After graduation, she was employed by TRW Systems as a System Analyst for NASA. She had the privilege of being involved with the Apollo 13 missions and was in the control room when the first steps on the moon were taken. She worked for and retired from Amoco Chemical Company at Chocolate Bayou where she was a computer/analyst programmer. Judy loved the outdoors, loved camping and traveling, and loved life. She looked for God's presence in the beauty of nature. From childhood, she enjoyed activities including hunting, fishing, and boating. She loved being on the water and treasured her time with friends and family. She was well known for her beautiful smile, vibrant personality, and quick wit. Judy and Emil lived in Lake Jackson from 1970-2005 and retired on Bastrop Bayou. During their time in Lake Jackson, they enjoyed church, family, classic cars and car shows. Judy's faith in God was very important to her and in retirement she was involved in many activities at church. All services will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Danbury. Visitation is Friday September 18 from 5:00-7:00pm with the Rosary at 7:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 19 at 10:00am, following with burial and lunch.
