Kyle Wayne Roberds

December 8, 1946 — September 17, 2012

Wayne Roberds, 65, of Angleton passed away September 17, 2012, at the Methodist Hospital after a 10 month battle against cancer, which he overcame. He was born December 8, 1946, in Bay City, Texas to Wilma and Blondie Roberds. Wayne graduated from Bay City High School in 1966 and played football at Baylor University from 1966-1970. After graduating from Baylor he moved to Angleton where he began his teaching and coaching career. He taught for 34 years at Angleton High School and Angleton Middle School. It's odd that his name was actually Wayne because very little people called him that. His Bay City friends knew him as "Coonie", while his coaching buddies back in the day called him "Bear", still to this day most of Angleton knows him as "Coach Roberds". One thing is certain, while called many names, everybody LOVED Wayno. Wayne was a mentor to many; he loved football with a passion. He loved the outdoors even more, if he didn't have a fishing pole in one hand; he had a gun in the other. Fishing and hunting were his true love. He spent the last 10 years since retirement chasing a life dream of raising cattle. He loved Beefmaster cattle and working the farm. He loved to get in the cab of his John Deere tractor and do some shredding or disking while listening to a college football game. Wayne never met a stranger; those who knew him loved him. He had a heart the size of Texas, and would help anyone who wanted to learn, he will be truly missed by many. Wayne is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart who were just shy of 50 years together, Lynda Younts Roberds of Angleton, son Clinton Wayne Roberds and his wife Jana Roberds of Missouri City, Texas, and daughter Robyn Roberds of Missouri City, Texas. He also had three of the most incredible grandchildren - oh, how he loved to take them hunting and fishing. They are Madison Brooke Roberds, Carson Wayne Roberds, and Colt Wayne Roberds.
