Laura Jane Munson Cooper, 78, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 surrounded by her family. Laura was born on March 15, 1943 to Joseph Underwood Munson and Ruth Anna Horn Munson in Velasco, Brazoria County, Texas. She attended Angleton public schools and graduated from Angleton High School in 1961. She then attended East Texas State College in Commerce before moving to Houston where she attended business college. On March 1, 1963, Laura married Eddy Ray Cooper. They went on to have 3 children - Kelly, Amy and Eddy, Jr, followed by 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was a life-long member of the Cradle of Texas Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ruth Anna Munson. Survivors include her husband Eddy Ray Cooper, her children Kelly Keeble of Shiner, Amy Skinner and husband Tim of Burleson and Eddy Ray Cooper, Jr of Arlington. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Jared Hudson and wife Kristen, Daren Hileman and wife Jana, Josh Hudson and fianc Christine Frank, Justin Hudson and wife Kate, Tina Moser and husband Kevin, Sara Keeble, Trey Skinner and fianc Kate Cavender, Kaydee Keeble, Austin Keeble, Aidan Cooper, Dylan Cooper and Britton Cooper. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren, Christian Hudson, Baleigh Hileman, Carson Keeble, Dalton Hileman, Ellye Gordon, Mason Hileman, Hannah Hudson, Cash Hileman, Ruby Crawford, Charlotte Crawford, Gruene Cavender and Henry Skinner. Other survivors include her brothers Joseph Underwood Munson and wife Olivia of Houston, George Kennedy Munson and wife Margie of Bailey's Prairie. Also surviving, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins of the Munson, Underwood, Horn and Fairchild families. Also surviving is her faithful four-legged companion, Harley. One of her passions was Texas Aggie Football and everyone knew on game day she was either in front of the TV or listening to the radio. She also tried to never miss a grandchild's sporting event, always cheering them on to victory. Laura always volunteered to help with school projects, and her help would guarantee that the grade given was an "A". Laura had many talents and most of them were self-taught. She was an accomplished artist who loved to paint with watercolors, play the piano and the saxophone, and she also taught herself how to play the harmonica. Laura was also an amazing cook. Her most avid passion in life was Texas History and family genealogy. Her family includes many of the first settlers of Texas. She spent many hours researching, developing and perfecting her own web page named Brazoria Roots that chronicles her family history. Special thanks to Robert Powell Munson who saved this site, guaranteeing that her work is available for all of her descendants. Laura was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and as her husband of 58 years would say a "true Texas Patriot". She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Pallbearers will be Jared Hudson, Daren Hileman, Josh Hudson, Justin Hudson, Trey Skinner, Aidan Cooper, Christian Hudson and Britton Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joseph Underwood Munson and George Kennedy Munson, Tim Skinner, Joshua Ward and Robert Powell Munson. Services will be at Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Columbia on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 10:00am In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations go to the renovation of the historic family home, The Ammon Underwood House (1837) in East Columbia.
