In Loving Memory of Laurene Smith Patterson August 28, 1922 ~ June 23, 2017 Laurene Smith Patterson of Angleton, Texas passed away June 23 at the age of 94. Visitation will be at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton on Monday, June 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Family burial at the Angleton Cemetery. Memorial service on Tuesday, June 27, at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, Angleton. The middle child of nine siblings, Laurene was born in Alvin, Texas on August 28, 1922 to Tom and Pauline Prewitt Smith. She married the love of her life, Douglas Patterson, in 1944. The couple resided in Fort Worth, Texas, where they owned and operated Patterson Porcelain Laboratory for forty years. Laurene was a faithful member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, the Order of Daughters of the King, a life member of the Angleton Danbury Hospital Auxiliary, Angleton Study Club, and member-at-large of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT). Known as a consummate and gracious hostess, Laurene loved to entertain for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two brothers, William P. Smith and Thomas Smith; and four sisters, Marion Duncan, Dorothea Hines, Eleanor Bird, and Beth Hunter. She is survived by her daughter, Paula Haenchen of Angleton; and her son, Robert Patterson and daughter-in-law Danna of Austin, Texas; grandsons Joe Haenchen and John Paul Patterson; granddaughter Tricia Haenchen; sister Jimmie Lou Green, sister Margaret Roussel and husband Will; and brother-in-law, Lou Hunter. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials go to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church or to a charity of choice.
