Lawrence Bertrand Menard

Lawrence Bertrand Menard, 81 passed away Saturday, January 21, 2012 in Houston, TX. Larry was a resident of Danbury for 35 years and most recently lived in Ace, TX. He graduated from Belton High School in 1948 then served in the United States Air Force and Army from 1948 until 1953. Larry worked for Monsauto Chemical Company for 34 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 501 Danbury and a charter member of the Danbury Masonic Lodge for 50 years and served as post master. In Danbury, Larry helped for the Tri-Bayou Little League and was instrumental in building Danbury Little League ball field. He also started the 4-H Horse Group in Danbury. He served a term as City Mayor and served on Danbury City Council. Larry and wife, Beverly enjoyed bird watching with their club, Bird and Bloom, out of Livingston, TX. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his family. Larry loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with them in "the woods" catching his catfish. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. and Mrs. John Menard; brother, John Bertrand Menard; and daughter-in-law, June Hayes Menard. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly A. Menard of Ace, TX; sons, David Menard and wife, Lee of Houston, Tracy Menard and wife, Morla of League City, Tom Menard and wife, Lisa of Danbury; soster, Ann Menard Jinkins of Waco, TX; grandchildren, Joshua Menard and wife, Krista, Adrian Gomez and husband, Matthew, Lauren Smith and husband, Travis, Haley Sebree and husband, Kylle, Jade Menard, Eric Prokisch and wife, Amanda, Quade Menard, Quinn Menard and Kendall Kulhonek; great grandchildren, Carson, Noah, Elijah, Gunner and one due in August. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home.
