Leonard Matt Sebesta Sr.

March 1, 1930 — September 6, 2013

Leonard Matt Sebesta Sr. was born in Weimer, Texas on March 1, 1930, to John and Pauline Guenther Sebesta and went to the Lord on September 6, 2013, in Angleton, Texas. Leonard was a graduate of Columbus High School where he was a member of the Columbus Cardinals football team. Leonard proudly served in the United States Navy on both the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Valley Forge and the U.S.S. Kankakee, a Kennebec class Fleet Oiler. Leonard received an honorable discharge in 1957. Leonard worked for Phillips Petroleum Company for thirty-seven years beginning in 1957 and retiring in 1994. He was also the principle owner of Sebesta Egg Farm in the mid 60's to early 70's. Leonard was married to Pauline Jeannette Bonneau Sebesta for 50 years and had six children and 16 grandchildren. Leonard was a loving father and grandfather. One of Leonard's proudest achievements was being able to provide all his children with college educations. Leonard is survived by his children: Leonard "Matt" Sebesta Jr. and wife, Monica, of Angleton, Patrick Sebesta and wife, Shannon, of Angleton, Paul Sebesta and wife, Robbe, of Angleton, Timothy Sebesta of Houston, Texas, Suzanne Dellinger and husband, Bill, of Angleton, and Julie Tally and husband, Dan, of Cypress, Texas; and grandchildren, Joshua Sebesta, Ryan Sebesta, Patrick Sebesta II, William Sebesta, Christopher Sebesta, Annabelle Sebesta, John Sebesta, Jacob Sebesta, Jonathan Sebesta, Misha Sebesta, Zachary Sebesta, Emily Dellinger, Allison Dellinger, Parker Tally, Payton Tally and Paige Tally. Leonard is also survived by brothers-in-law, Donald Bonneau and wife, Margaret, of Angleton, Paul Bonneau and wife, Kelly, of Anacoca, Louisiana, Robert Bonneau and wife, Joan, of Houston, James Bonneau of Houston and sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Garrett of Houston, Marjorie Foudray of Brazoria, Joyce Coley and husband, Kenneth, of Angleton, Dorothy Finley and husband, Chuck, of Houston and JoAnn Sebesta, of Columbus, Texas. He is also survived by his half-sister, Barbara Beard and half-brother, Joe Sebesta, both of Tomball. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Jeannette Bonneau Sebesta, his parents, John and Pauline Guenther Sebesta, his brothers Alvin Sebesta, George Sebesta, and Leroy Sebesta, and his sister Hilda Naiser. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, September 13, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Danbury, Father Joseph Phiet-The-Nguyen and Deacon Doug Tromblee officiating. Interment will follow at the Angleton Cemetery. Visitation will be at Palms Funeral Home on September 12, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Christian Wake Service (Rosary) immediately following. Pallbearers will be Joshua Sebesta, Patrick Sebesta II, Jacob Sebesta, Parker Tally, Ryan Sebesta and William Sebesta. Honorary pallbearers are the remainder of his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Faith and Formation Donor Program c/o St. Anthony's Catholic Church in the memory of Leonard Sebesta. The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and staff of Country Village Care and A Med Community Hospice for their compassionate care and kindness to Dad.
