Leonard Thomas Sebesta, 80, of Demi-John Island passed away at his home on October 10, 2024.
Leonard was born on February 2, 1944, in Angleton to Charles Thomas and Velina Emilie (Jakubik) Sebesta. He graduated from Danbury High School and attended Sam Houston State University. In May 1966 he was drafted into the Army. He completed his Army tour of duty as E-5 Finance Specialist at 5th Army Headquarters Ft. Sheridan, Illinois.
On July 19, 1966, after basic training, Leonard married the love of his life Loretta June Grimmett. In December 1966 she joined him at Ft. Sheridan.
After the Army Leonard worked as Office Manager for Thomas A. Reed, Swagelok distributor. In June 1972, he went to work at Monsanto company until he retired from Monsanto as an Instrument/Electrical Technician.
Leonard and Loretta have 3 wonderful children, Nicole, Robyn, and Clint. Leonard’s passion was spending time with his family, working and trying to fix anything he could. He would tell people that working was his hobby. He also enjoyed being part of the Killen Time BBQ Cook-off team for over 25 years. He loved for all the family to come to the Bayou and enjoy riding the jet skis, boat riding and of course fishing.
Leonard was preceded in death by his daughter Robyn Peltier, parents Charles and Velina Sebesta, brothers Charlie Sebesta and Bill Sebesta.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Sebesta, daughter Nicole Zarkowski and son-in-law Brian, son Clint Sebesta and wife Caroline, son -in-law Clint Peltier. Grandchildren TJ and Brandon Zarkowski, Mia, Jenna and Charlie Sebesta, Jayden, Trent and Gage Peltier. Great grandchildren, Jameson, Gavin, Trace, Presleigh, Kash and Kase; brother Al and wife Linda Sebesta and Sister Darlene Sebesta; and a host of family and friends that will miss him terribly.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Palms Funeral Home. Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Danbury.
