Lewis Wayne Brown's book of life started on February 3, 1947 at 7:28 p.m. at the Dow Magnesium Corporation Hospital, Velasco, Texas to his loving parent's, Louis and Dorothy Brown. His final chapter was reached on June 15, 2021 at 9:33 a.m., in his home, surrounded by his cherished family. Wayne attended public school in Angleton, graduating with the Class of 1965. His next mission took him to Wharton County Junior College (WCJC) where he spent most of his days cutting classes while managing to get to Eagle Lake to go goose hunting. Luck arrived in January of 1968 when Dow Chemical, Texas Operations, took a chance on hiring him. Hunting and working stopped when Uncle Sam grabbed him on June 4, 1968. He served honorably in the US ARMY at Fort Myer, Virginia, Company "C", 1st Battalion (REINF), 3D Infantry. THE OLD GUARD. As a member of the first marching platoon of Company "C" it was his honor to participate in President Dwight D. Eisenhower's State Funeral, numerous General Officer funerals and funerals for those who gave their all to keep our freedom from the disaster of communism. He served in Washington until June 4, 1970 and entering in the US Army Reserves until 1974. He had returned to Dow in 1970 working 36 years before retiring from the Rescue, Fire, Haz-Mat Department on January 1, 2004 In 1970, Wayne met his future wife, Kathey, at Lack's Sporting Goods in Angleton. She filled out his hunting license. Once his bravery kicked in, he called her and 18 months later they married. They would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary later this year. His greatest success was the birth of their only child, Bryan Wayne in 1978. The riches that family brought kept him going until his Dementia (FTD-v BDH) consumed him. His next greatest joy was being blessed with 3 beautiful loving granddaughters, Karly, Kenzie and Kalli, who will miss his antics but will hold him in their heart's forever. He prayed for his wonderful daughter-in-law, Kelsie knowing what a wonderful selection Bryan made. He was at peace. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and grandparents. To mourn his passing, he leaves behind his wife Kathey, his son Bryan and wife Kelsie, granddaughters, Karly, Kenzie, and Kalli, his sister Rhonda, her husband, Robert Rice, nephew Clayton, his wife, Kaysie Stewart and their children, Kimber and Teale. And the loud fun bunch he married into, the Journeay family. His time spent with Kathey doing "wildlife management", better defined as feral hog trapping at the Journeay Ranch kept him going. He also leaves behind his faithful Border Collies, Jett and Rink. The family extends their sincere appreciation to AMED Hospice and especially our Brenda, his longtime aide as well as the fabulous crew of nurses for the past 14 months. The family also thanks his sister Rhonda, Jim and Dana Webb, Elizabeth and Tom Jones, Linda and Robert Cone, all of the Journeay Family, and Pam Hendrich for being on the team for Kathey to help keep Wayne on his final mission in deserved dignity, safety and the comfort of his home. Per Wayne's request his funeral was private. The US Army's Honor Guard from Fort Sam Houston presented his American flag along with the Brazoria County Combined Honor Guard.
