Linda Sue Gatlin Young, 77, of Brazoria, TX passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on June 30, 2024, leaving a void her family cannot fill. Linda was born on November 9, 1946 to George and Winnie Bob Gatlin of DeKalb, TX.
Linda married the love of her life Hugh Bennett Young, Jr on July 16, 1965. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Kelly Suzanne Young, on November 9, 1971. She was truly their pride and joy. After obtaining her Associate’s Degree in Computer Science from Wharton County Junior College, Linda began a fulfilling career at Celanese where she remained a devoted employee and from which she retired and took on a role with her family - Grannycare. Linda enjoyed many adventures in life, but her favorite of them all was the time she spent with her family and friends. Linda did not meet a stranger and extended her giving and loving heart to anyone she met. Linda will be missed by so many people that she left her mark on.
She is preceded into death by her mother, Winnie Bob, her father, George, and her husband, Hugh Bennett Young, Jr.
She leaves behind her daughter, Kelly Young; grandchildren: Ashlee (Blake), Brianna, Whitney (Tristan), and Bransen (Bre); great-grandchildren: Adyson, Grayson, Leigha, Jaycelin, Weston, and Braxton; sister, Vivian Ruffu, nieces and nephew: Amber, Charmon (Tim), and Phillip; very special great nephew and great nieces: Zuy (Alliah), Zaida, Olivia, and Tatum.
A viewing will be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, TX on July 5, 2024 from 5-7 PM. Her funeral service will also be held at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, TX on July 6, 2024 at 10 AM with graveside service in Sweeny, TX to follow.
Pallbearers are Isaac Kemp, Phillip Ruffu, Zuy Saenz, Chayton Herbst, Jacob Copeland, and Justin Henderson. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Tweedle, Alvin Kocurek, Tony Kucera, Bransen Cothren, Grayson Ferguson, Chris Herbst, Freddie Henderson, Stevie Koepke, and Shawn Reynolds.
