Lois Merrill Sims

December 23, 1932 — August 20, 2021

Lois Merrill Sims, 88, of Angleton was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior on August 20, 2021. Lois was born on December 23, 1932, in Childress, Texas to Herman and Bessie (White) Johnson. Since her dad worked for the railroad, she and her family grew up in several locations and states which included, New Mexico and Texas. She met Steve Sims while living in Angleton, Texas and found the man she wanted to spend her life with. They married on June 11, 1950, in Angleton, Texas. They made Angleton their home where they raised their two daughters. Lois worked for the City of Angleton for several years then worked in the Brazoria County Auditor's office until she retired. Lois enjoyed spending time with her family and shopping. She and her husband, Steve, were members of the First Baptist Church of Angleton and raised their daughters in a Christian environment. Family was her greatest joy and they are blessed to have made many memories with her. Those that preceded her in death include her husband: Steve Sims; parents Herman and Bessie Johnson; and numerous other family members including all of her brothers and sisters. She was the youngest of twelve children. Left to treasure her memory include her daughters: Kathi Samuel and husband Dan, Sandra Ware and husband Joseph; grandsons: Jeramey Cantu and fianc Christina Watson, Brad Foulds and wife Laura, Marcus Foulds and wife Halley; step grandsons: Scott Samuel and wife Jessica, and Chris Samuel; great grandchildren: Ella Foulds, Dane Foulds and Nolan Foulds. Her eyes would light up every time she would see them! She had numerous nieces and nephews that she cherished as well. Most lived too far to visit, however Pat Osborn, who lives in Angleton, was able to visit while Lois was living in Elmcroft in Lake Jackson. Her dear friend, Sarah McDaniel, was also very special to her for many years. The staff at Elmcroft always said she had a sweet smile and kind eyes. Her family knows that she is with our Lord and Savior and of course her husband, who has been waiting for her since 2016. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Funeral Service starting at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 28, 2021, at Palms Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Angleton Cemetery Service Details.
