Lonnie Ray Vance, 73, passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, November 12, 2023, ending his two-year battle with leukemia. Lonnie was born July 27, 1950, in Freeport, Texas to Marshall Ray and Hattie Brock Vance.
He graduated from Brazosport High School in 1968 and continued his education at LeTourneau University where he studied drafting. He married his high school sweetheart Sharon Radford in June 1969. They were married 47 years before the Lord called her home in 2016. Lonnie was a pipe designer and worked for many different companies and projects over the years. In later years, his job took him and Sharon to many different states, as well as the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. They enjoyed traveling together and had many adventures. In his free time, he enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, raising chickens and collecting antiques. He committed his life to Christ at a young age and loved telling people about his Savior. He was loving and compassionate and always had a smile on his face, even in his greatest suffering. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends, and we look forward to the day when we will see him again.
Lonnie is survived by his daughter, Dana Harden (Tyler), son Weston Vance (Kelly), brother, Marshall Vance (Cesellie), sister, Kay Green, six grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Sharon, and his parents, Marshall Ray and Hattie Brock Vance.
