Louie Francis Smith

Louie Francis Smith, 83, of Danbury, Texas, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, November 1, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on July 20, 1941 in Danbury, Texas to Galves and Opal Smith.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Brenda (Irwin) Smith, whom he married on February 19, 1966, in Freeport, Texas.

Louie’s strong work ethics began as a young boy, shoveling levees in the rice fields of Danbury. He enjoyed many years in ironwork and pipe fitting. In 1982, he began working as the maintenance and transportation director of Danbury ISD.

When he wasn’t working, he lived a life full of passion, purpose, and joy, surrounded by the people and hobbies he loved. With a fishing pole in hand, he found solace by the water, especially while floundering on the coast.

An avid bass guitarist, for Leo Brock and the Sundowners, Louie always brought music to every gathering, his melodies and rhythms reflecting. His skillful hands were just as at home in the kitchen, where cooking was both a craft and a gift he lovingly shared with everyone he knew.

Camping under the stars was his favorite way to connect with nature and family. A car enthusiast, he appreciated the beauty and thrill of traveling the open road.

Though Louie has left us, the memories of his passions and the light he shared with those around him will live on forever in our hearts.

As we gather to celebrate his life and legacy, may his adventurous spirit and joyful nature continue to inspire us as we bid him farewell and carry his memory with us always.

Louie is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Irwin) Smith, his children: Susan Renae Patterson (and her husband Jeffory), Jeffery Kirk Smith (and his wife Lindsey), Dennis Colby Smith (and his wife Amy), his grandchildren: Mathew Blake Patterson, Ashleigh Michelle Turczyn (and her husband Chad), Avery Grace Smith, Kaden Colby Smith, Kendal Colton Smith, and Adalyne Rose Smith, and his great-grandchildren, Bryson Hunter Iven and Stetson Alexander Turczyn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Galves and Opal Smith, and his brother, Harold G. Smith.

To honor his life, a visitation will be held at Palms Funeral Home on November 9, 2024, at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be on November 10, 2024, at 2:00 pm, also at Palms Funeral Home. Louie will be laid to rest at Danbury Cemetery.
