Lynda Mueller

June 8, 1944 — February 8, 2015

Lynda Susan Kelly Mueller passed away on February 8, 2015 after a short, but valiant, battle with cancer. She was surrounded and supported by her family and friends throughout her illness. Lynda was a devoted mother to her son, Ernest Conrad "Sonny" Mueller IV and her daughter, Catherine Mueller Waybright. She spent a great deal of time helping with their school activities, dance classes, Boy Scouts, and athletics. She was especially proud of Ernest's graduation from Rice University and Catherine's from UHCL. The second half of her adult life was spent as the court coordinator for Judge Robert E. May in the 149th District Court of Brazoria County. During their 20 years in office, they were known for their compassion toward all the people that appeared in their court; it didn't matter if you were accused of a crime or if you were suing someone, they treated everyone they encountered with respect and kindness. Lynda was truly overjoyed when her three granddaughters were born. She loved nothing more than spending time with them and buying them all the things their parents wouldn't. She drove to Webster once or twice a week to watch the girls' volleyball and softball games, cheering louder than most of the parents. Anyone who knew Lynda knew how much she loved and adored her granddaughters. She was an active member of the Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton. She took a special interest in caring for the senior women; taking them to lunch, helping them learn to care for themselves when their husbands passed away and providing companionship. Lynda is survived by a brother, Paul Kelly; two sisters, Patricia Adams and Teri Tabares; her children, Ernest Mueller IV and Catherine Susan (Mueller) Waybright; three granddaughters, Kaylie Susan Waybright, Alyssa Lynn Waybright and Aoife Veronica Mueller; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry Paul Kelly and Miriam Harte Kelly; a brother, James Kelly; and a sister, Judith Nasser. Equally as important to her was her courthouse family - lawyers, judges, court reporters and coordinators, clerks, bailiffs and deputies. To some she was their "mother", always ready with a smile, a cup of coffee and some words of encouragement. To others she was a counselor; she would make time to listen to their problems and give words of advice borne from experience, intelligence and wisdom. To all she was a friend; kind, loving and caring. She was very generous and it was not uncommon for her to give away the scarf, bracelet or shoes that she was wearing. She always made time to share a kind word with everyone she met. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Brazosport Cancer Center, Brazosport Regional Medical Center, A-Med Hospice, and, most of all, the caring and diligent staff on the express unit of Country Village Nursing Home in Angleton. Her memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton, TX. There will be a reception following at the First Baptist Church in Angleton, just across the street from the courthouse.
