LYNETTE REED passed away peacefully on February 19, 2017 with her loving husband, Denny, by her side. Lynette was born in Houston on April 26, 1954 to parents, William Clifton Mitcham and Margie Janek Mitcham. Her family moved to Jones Creek where Lynette began elementary school. They later moved to Brazoria which became home where she made many lifelong friends. Lynette graduated from West Columbia High School in 1972. She received an Associate degree from Brazosport College. She began her work career as an executive secretary at Intermedics followed by working as secretary for the City of Clute where she was directly involved in the original Mosquito Festival, developing more lifelong friends. She lived in Houston for a brief period before returning to the Brazosport area and having the two loves of her life, sons Travis and Justin. She was employed with Brazosport Memorial Hospital as Medical Staff Coordinator, recruiting and accrediting many of the physicians at the hospital. She later transferred to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville where she loved driving through the Smoky Mountains with all the beautiful sights. Lynette returned to the Gulf Coast employed as office manager in a surgical office. During this time, she met her future husband and life partner, Dr. Denny Reed. In 2006 they moved to Columbia Lakes where Denny and Lynette enjoyed living their lives together. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William and Margie Mitcham. Lynette is survived by her husband, William D. Reed, Jr. DDS and sons, Travis Burks and wife Nicole of Friendswood; Justin Burks of Clute; B. Devin Reed MD and wife Annie of Missouri City; Jack Reed of Austin; daughter Keira Reed of Houston and the prize of her life were grandchildren Dominic Burks, Chace Burks, Kaden Burks, Reagan Reed and Jackson Reed. She is also survived by her brother, Scott Mitcham, nephew Brandon Mitcham, cousin Frank Janek and very dear friends, Deby Martin Wardlow and Barbara Hester. She also leaves behind her faithful and devoted pet, Romeo. Lynette loved being active in the Columbia Lakes Ladies Association and the Brazoria County Master Gardeners where she enjoyed so many friendships. Memorial services will not be held at this time. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date for the celebration of Lynette's life. Memorial donations to honor Lynette's life made be made to CEMS, 400 N.
