Mabel Young Hamlin

Mabel Young Hamlin, 93, of Angleton, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2013. Mabel was born February 20, 1920, to James E. and Mary Young in Laredo, Texas. She is the widow of Philip Hamlin. She has been a resident of Angleton since 1953. She attended Holy Comforter Episcopal Church of Angleton and was a member of the Daughters of the King. Mabel also served her community at the local food pantry and the Angleton-Danbury Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of the Angleton Garden Club. Mabel was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Young and Willie Mae Hanson and four brothers, Edward, James, Bill, and David Young and nephew, Stephen Young. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann Durham and husband, Harry of Houston; granddaughters, Michelle Durham Kugler and Darcie Ann Durham; great grandchildren, Remy Kugler and Emmery Kugler; nieces and nephews, Charles Young, James Young, Diane Shaffer, David Young, , Jeannie Marie McKeon, Rosemary Collins, Charles Hanson, Katherine Young, Bill Young, and Karen Roark. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Angleton with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the service begins. A reception will follow the memorial service in Herbst Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, PO Box 786 Angleton, Texas 77516 are requested.
