Madge Avanell (Sneed) Simons May 20, 1926 ~ June 15, 2016 Madge Avanell (Sneed) Simons was born May 20, 1926 in Crosby- Harris County, Texas to John Madison Sneed and Mable Slone Sneed. She passed away on June 15, 2016 in Angleton, Texas. Her husband, William Edward "Billy" Simons, her parents and half-brother, Dean Horace Whiteside of Little Rock, Arkansas preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Joy Simons Craig (husband, Owen Eugene Craig) of Angleton, Texas, her grandson, David Aaron Craig, (who named her Nana a name she was so proud of) (and his wife, Amanda Stone Craig), a granddaughter, Suzanne Elizabeth Craig of Richwood, Texas and a great-grandson, Dakota Aaron Craig and great grand-daughter, Paisley Grace Craig both of Danbury, Texas. After graduating in 1944, Madge worked for The Office of Price Administration during WWII in Houston, Texas, and also for the Hartford Insurance Co. in Houston, Texas. On September 28, 1946, she married William Edwards Simons and moved to Angleton. In March of 1947 she was employed by Mr. B.M. Jamison Sr., President of the "The Brazoria County State Bank," now known as The Wells Fargo Bank. After 3 years, she was hired by Mr. Jack Boston, President of "The First National Bank," now known as "Prosperity Bank" for 3 years. In 1952 she quit work at the bank and was a stay at home mom to her daughter. In 1954, her husband went into the Drag Line contracting business, and she was his bookkeeper for 50 years. Her husband, daughter, grandson, granddaughter, great-grandson, and great -granddaughter were all loved very much. To the IPH Health Nurses, I loved you dearly. The family appreciates all of your help over the past years. Services are scheduled for Monday, June 20, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Carroll Grigsby officiating at Palms Funeral Home 2300 East Mulberry Angleton, Texas 77515. Burial will follow in Angleton, Cemetery. The family welcomes friends for a time of visitation on Sunday, June 19, 2016 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be; Patrick Fuchs, Joe Peltier, Bud Beacom, Jerry Crowell and James Brawner Honorary Pallbearers will be Emil Ritz and Troy Baldwin.
